T-Shirt Chic: How To Look Classy Without Breaking The Bank

chic-tshirt-fashion-affordable

What if I told the secret tool to achieving a chic style was something you already have in your closet? Score, right?

There’s no need to drop thousands of dollars on a designer purse or red soled heels. Unless you want or can afford to, in which case can you pay for my college too 😉 ??? Jokes aside, I’m here to show you how you can transform the humble t-shirt into a classy, put-together look.

3 Tips To Style T-Shirt Chic:

1. Accessorize!!! (maybe diamonds really are a girl’s best friend 😉 ?)

This look clearly displays how quickly you can transform an outfit with a little help from accessories. I’ve layered on a bright floral scarf, teal cross body bag, tortoise shell sunglasses (don’t worry, it’s just a style of print no turtles were harmed in the making!), diamond studs, a simple gold bracelet, and a gold ring. My first two accessories were bold and added flare, so I kept the jewelry pretty simple to prevent the look from being too over done. Nobody wants to look like a walking circus right 😉 ?

Other accessories to try:

  • Blazers
  • Statement necklaces
  • Sweaters
  • Fancy Clutches
  • Watches
  • Belts
  • Hats

2. Play with prints and colors

If you know me, then you probably are aware that mixing prints is pretty much my favorite fashion hack ever. It’s so bold and fun. Stripes and florals (as shown in the look above) always pair very nicely. I also am obsessed with adding pops of bright colors like the scarf and purse above. As I’m very fair, wearing vibrant colors is a must to avoid looking washed out. Not to mention, you can’t help but smile when you’re dressed in hot pink, am I right 😉 ?

3. Stick to a more dressy bottom

This could mean tucking your tee into a circle skirt, rocking it with a pencil skirt, or even pairing it with colored pants like I did. Stray away from athletic or denim shorts if you want to looked polished. Also if you’re going for a professional, dressy look, depending on workplace dress codes you may also want to avoid the standard blue jeans.

Bonus:

As you can see, I also threw my hair up in a bun, adding instant chic points. So don’t forget that a nice hairdo or makeup can also make an outfit appear more dressy!

Love this post, Meah! Your fashion posts are always so awesome. I definitely love mixing prints although I’ve gotten pretty boring about that lately (but hey, we’ve been having heat wave after heat wave over here so who can blame me?). I love wearing pink even though I don’t own a ton of pink clothing. Now you’re making me want to go shopping!

Thanks Aya 🙂 ! Haha, yeah this heat wave has me pretty much exclusively wearing athletic clothes as of right now. There are a bunch of sales coming up, so maybe you should treat yourself to a little shopping spree!
