I’m all about comfy clothing. Call it odd, but I like the idea that, if need be, I could sprint away or fight someone with my ninja skills at any moment. That being said, I was ecstatic when I got the opportunity to try out some of prAna‘s new fall styles.
prAna is a brand made for the adventurers and explorers of the world who strive to lead active and sustainable lifestyles. Through my passion for nutrition, I’ve learned the importance of being educated about your food and where it comes from.
What’s just as important as sourcing your food is sourcing your clothing. I’ll admit, I, like many, am guilty of not really paying much attention to who’s making what out of what when it comes to my clothes. My clothing selection process is more like “Ooo colorful!“, try it on, and if, by the will of God, it fits my short little body, I buy it.
That being said, I think it’s pretty inspiring that prAna maintains the integrity of its products by sustainably sourcing all the materials and being fair trade.
Mattea Sweater (Black)
The first thing I thought of when I saw myself in this was The Hunger Games. Seriously!
The angular design and charcoal, ashen grey color reminded me a lot of the futuristic, badass outfits Katniss wore. So, naturally, I had to pair this look with a braid. Since it’s soft and warm, I think it’ll be the perfect cozy pullover to keep on hand for the winter when my house turns into Antarctica or those days when I really couldn’t be bothered to wear anything but pajamas, but social norms tell me to do otherwise.
Kara Jean (Sunwashed Red)
As you probably know by now, I’m ALL about wearing color. These bold jeans certainly deliver! Their vibrant shade reminds me of the fiery foliage of autumn leaves, so they’ll definitely be a staple piece in my fall wardrobe.
Not to mention their comfort! I ditched real denim jeans long ago (bless the creator of jeggings!). So, I love the soft feel and stretch the organic cotton gives to these jeans.
Even though I got the smallest size, I did end up having to do a “lazy girl’s hem” and tuck them under in order for them to be short enough to wear with flats. They’re just the right length to tuck into boots, but if you’re tres petite like me, any other shoes will require you to roll them a bit.
Oh, yeah, and they pass the “does this make my butt look good?” test just FYI 😉 .
To wrap things up…
I love how unique and comfortable the pieces I received from prAna are. Plus, the fact that I managed to make an outfit suitable for workouts and one for the workplace definitely shows versatility.
Like many other popular, high-quality active lifestyle brands, prAna is on the pricier side and, admittedly, my first thought was “this would be out of my price range”.
When I considered what went into the pricing however, I realized this is largely due to the fact that they strive to ensure sustainably sourced materials and the fair treatment and pay of those involved in the production process. In my mind, making the world a better place and choosing to invest in a few pieces I know will last rather than many that may not is worth it.
So, I really recommend you check prAna out! Now’s a great time because you can save 15% on you prAna purchases using this code:
